Typical British etiquette, I’m in the queue at the pharmacy about 3 back of 6 waiting when a woman arrives at the front of the queue who just needs to “check something” she says, so she goes in next when the previous comes out, and not one of us says anything of course. Out she comes with her meds and a smile. Why queue, why not be a chancing bastard instead, I don’t have the brass neck for it but where’s the downside, apart from people you don’t know maybe thinking you’re a twat? I’m still in the queue, and she’s away.
See this is why only some of this lockdown will work, compliance with rules is tacit, there’s no convincing some people that they need to participate. For some it’s the stupidity of thinking that their mask is a
protection they can forego because they will risk it, the stupid thing being that they believe the mask protects them, it doesn’t, it protects others from you ya dickhead. For some the rules never apply, they’re better than rules, rules are for other people. For some they found an obscure article on the net that has led them to believe that bill gates wants to track them and Facebook groups concur. Others think that vaccines are Satan’s work, prayer/belief kills viruses. For some they can’t do without their partner for 2 weeks, the sky would fall in. For some they’ve spent so much time with family they realised they don’t like them much, others have been exposed to how banal their lives are without company and alcohol, others realise their shopping addictions realise their shopping addictions.
This was written in lockdown, just published now, I had forgotten about it…
