I’m an atheist, so to me school RE is a lesson in the history of what demonstrably infantile and ignorant nonsense a certain group of people have chosen to continue, beyond the reasonable excuse of childhood ignorance, and maybe because of family pressure, to believe under certain social circumstances, without accepting other information (science) that makes it’s supposed insights impossible or reveals it’s teachings as unacceptable in moral terms to an enlightened and democratic society that respects the autonomy and natural right of all persons, especially women, to determine their own existence as long as that right does no harm to others and is without unnecessary suffering (with the caveat that that freedom is in harmony with the freedoms of others of course) and to not be enslaved by ideas that empower the leaders of the religions that have those ideas..
