It’s just my opinion but….
There’s maybe never been a better incentive for improving the energy efficiency of your domicile, collecting rain water, supporting a party that has green and renewable energy policies and a progressive tax position in their manifesto (the Greens), recycling absolutely everything, supporting energy independence nationally, ending fossil fuel dependency with wind farms and solar panels, cooking ingredients not buying fast-food, batch baking, avoiding the drive-thru and making your own coffee, boycotting the self checkout so that someone is employed, being selective about your vendors so as not to support those that fund the war mongers, mending clothes not chucking them, choosing paper bags and reusable glass containers, cancelling streaming services, wearing bamboo clothes, buying second hand things, sharing resources like broadband and lending folks your tools when you’re not using them, getting exercise that’s free like going for a walk, helping your neighbours, growing your own veg, holidaying without flying, and maybe being a basically decent human to other people regardless of colour and even if you don’t agree with how they live, than what is happening in the middle east right now and what it is exposing about our economy and social fabric.
We may not be in this conflict but our social and personal finances will very soon make us feel we are, our best strategy is to reduce consumption, that strategy punishes the vendor and in a world more and more dictated by financial profiteers it may be the only way we have to change their tack…
